The Spirent AT-9015 is a SmartBits DS1 ATM module designed for the purpose of generating and monitoring ATM network traffic. It boasts a wide range of applications, including the testing of LAN-to-ATM edge devices, xDSL devices, high-performance ATM backbones, and ATM-to-LAN internetworking devices. Equipped with cutting-edge capabilities, the AT-9015 enables frame-level testing at full-duplex, full wire-rate testing of switches and edge devices, switch testing at full-cell rate, and high-rate signaling testing for edge devices.
The AT-9015 features the ability to measure setup latencies and peak call rate for SVCs in SmartSignaling, as well as conducting end-to-end performance analysis for xDSL networks. The module provides comprehensive support for LANE testing, accommodating up to 64 LECs, and can handle a maximum of 800 calls per port every second in SmartSignaling, enabling 32,000 calls per second total when using a test suite of 40 ATM ports. Additionally, the AT-9015 allows for up to 8.38 million VCCs per port, resulting in a grand total of 335.54 million VCCs in a 40-port ATM test suite. Protocol support encompasses ILMI, UNI 3.x, LAN Emulation Client 1.0, LLC/SNAP per RFC 1483, PPP per RFCs 1661 and 2364, and Classical IP per RFC 1577.
The AT-9015 offers a fully-definable AAL5 frame payload, allowing users to transmit VCCs with custom payload content in various formats such as null encapsulation, PPP, Classical IP, LLC/SNAP, and LANE. Users can also define the standard traffic contract parameters per VCC based on the desired traffic class, which includes options for constant bit rate (CBR) and unspecified bit rate (UBR). Furthermore, the AT-9015 supports frame latency measurement with an impressive 100 ns timestamp resolution and ensures seamless compatibility with legacy LAN SmartCards. The module is complemented by the SmartSignaling application, which supports UNI 3.0/3.1/4.0 signaling and facilitates performance benchmarking.
In terms of counters, the AT-9015 is capable of storing a maximum of 4.29 million counts each, providing detailed display rates and events. It also offers comprehensive statistics at various layers. Physical layer statistics include line, section, and path error counters, while ATM layer statistics cover received and transmitted calls, as well as corrected and uncorrected HEC errored cells. AAL5 layer statistics encompass AAL5 transmit and receive frames, while VCC connection statistics track transmit and receive frames, along with counter statistics for all active circuits. To enhance testing capabilities, the AT-9015 incorporates triggers and latency features. Latency measurement is performed with a remarkable 10 ns resolution, measuring the time between frame transmission rates from the module to other SmartCards.
