The AT-9045 by Spirent is an advanced DS3 SmartCard designed to facilitate the generation, capture, and analysis of network packet data within a SmartBits chassis. This SmartCard’s custom-designed printed circuit board (PCB) ensures seamless integration into either an SMB-2000 or SMB-200 chassis. By utilizing a pair of these SmartCards, network professionals can effectively assess frame forwarding capabilities through a SmartApplications test, wherein one card acts as the transceiver and the other as the receiver. The AT-9045's DS3 cell performs direct mapping of ATM cells into the DS3 frame, eliminating the need for intermediate mapping processes. Additionally, the DS3 Physical Layer Convergence Protocol (PLCP) maps STM cells into PLCP frames and subsequently into the DS3 frame. To adapt to varying testing scenarios, users can modify the buildout field value of the SmartCard's electrical output. This adjustment allows for accommodating different cable lengths or specifying the desired level of signal attenuation. The cable length options provided by this SmartCard include: <= 225 Feet Pulse shaping for cable lengths up to 225 feet, and >225 Feet Pulse shaping for cable lengths exceeding 225 feet.
