The Spirent AT-9045B is a high-performance DS3 ATM SmartCard designed specifically for ATM network traffic monitoring and generation. This versatile SmartCard finds applications in various scenarios such as testing ATM-to-LAN internetworking devices, ATM backbones, xDSL devices, and LAN-to-ATM edge devices. The AT-9045B offers a wide range of capabilities to facilitate efficient testing. It enables full-duplex, frame-level testing which ensures comprehensive evaluation of edge devices and switches. Switch testing at full-cell rate is also supported, along with signaling testing at a high rate for edge devices. With a capacity of 45 Mbps and a BNC interface, this SmartCard provides reliable performance.

One of the standout features of the AT-9045B is its functionality to measure setup latencies and peak call rate for SVCs (Switched Virtual Circuits) using SmartSignaling. It supports PPP (Point-to-Point Protocol) testing with up to 2,048 PPP sessions and LANE (LAN Emulation) testing with a maximum of 64 LEcs (LAN Emulation Clients). For improved efficiency, it supports up to 800 calls per second per port and a maximum of 8.38 million VCCs (Virtual Channel Connections) per port. Moreover, the AT-9045B offers end-to-end performance analysis for xDSL networks. Frame latency measurements are possible with a remarkable 100 ns time stamp resolution.

To facilitate its functionalities, the AT-9045B is accompanied by the SmartSignaling application. This application supports UNI (User-to-Network Interface) 3.0/3.1/4.0 signaling and performance benchmarking. Through signal simulation, the SmartCard can handle an impressive 8,388,606 simultaneous switched virtual connections per port, complying with the maximum allowed by the ATM Forum UNI specification. In a test suite consisting of 40 ATM ports, this translates to a total of 335,544,240 SVCs. Additionally, the AT-9045B allows the setup patterns necessary for simulating high-performance network applications. The SmartSignaling feature also facilitates performance benchmarking, enabling measurement of peak call setup and teardown rate, call setup rate, call setup latency, and call handling capacity.

The AT-9045B supports Ethernet LAN-to-ATM, ATM-to-Ethernet LAN, and ATM-to-ATM scenario ATM frame-level testing. Its statistics functionality covers physical layer statistics, ATM layer statistics, AAL5 (ATM Adaptation Layer 5) layer statistics, and VCC connection statistics. Physical layer statistics include line, section, and path error counters, along with alarm status information reported to the user interface. ATM layer statistics encompass payload information as well as corrected and uncorrected HEC (Header Error Control) errored cells. It's worth noting that each counter can hold a maximum of 4.29 million counts, and all counters are capable of displaying rates and events. The AT-9045B also provides latency measurements for frame transmit rates between SmartCards.
