The AT-9155Cs by Spirent is an advanced ATM OC-3/STM-1 Single-Mode Module renowned for its user-friendly SmartSignaling Windows application. SmartSignaling comprises two pre-configured tests designed to assess the performance of ATM switch devices and ATM/LAN edge devices in terms of call acceptance, establishment, and termination of switched virtual circuits. By utilizing two or more SmartCards as the user-side of the UNI interface, the AT-9155Cs offers a range of standard test configurations and built-in tests for call capacity and maximum call rate.
The SmartSignaling call capacity test of the AT-9155Cs determines the maximum number of simultaneous virtual circuit connections that the device under test can establish and maintain. On the other hand, the maximum call rate test measures the device's ability to handle the highest number of call setups and teardowns per second without encountering failures. The AT-9155Cs exhibits remarkable capabilities, supporting testing for up to 800 calls per port, per second. In a comprehensive test suite featuring 40 ATM ports, this amounts to a total capacity of 32,000 calls per second. Furthermore, the module can accommodate up to 8,388,606 VCCs (Virtual Channel Connections) per port, allowing for a total of 33,544,240 VCCs in a 40-port ATM suite, which aligns with the maximum specifications set by the ATM Forum UNI (User Network Interface).
The line interface of the AT-9155Cs offers a range of additional features and functionalities. These include the option to enable or disable cell scrambling, HEC (Header Error Control) coset, and transmitted clock settings (internal or loop timed). The module also provides configurable options for idle cell headers and comprehensive error handling capabilities, encompassing drop, receive, and correction functionalities. Moreover, the interface incorporates key elements such as Service Specific Connection Oriented Protocol (SSCOP), UNI signaling parameters, broadband bearer capabilities, ILMI (Integrated Local Management Interface) parameters, and traffic descriptors. To utilize the AT-9155Cs effectively, certain requirements must be met. These include connecting the module to a compatible SmartBits chassis, using appropriate cabling depending on the specific test scenario, and employing a compatible PC running Windows 95/98/NT or IBM. Additionally, a color monitor and mouse are necessary for optimal performance and ease of use.
