The AT-9622s by Spirent is an advanced ATM SmartCard that is designed for generating and monitoring ATM network traffic. It serves a crucial role in testing various devices involved in ATM-to-LAN internetworking, ATM backbones that perform at a high rate, LAN-to-ATM edge connectivity, and xDSL devices. The AT-9622s offers an array of features, some of which enable efficient testing, including full-cell rate switch testing, frame-level testing at full-duplex, edge device testing at a high signal rate, and edge device and switches wire-rate testing.
One of the key capabilities of the AT-9622s is its ability to perform ATM frame-level testing, allowing for automatic VCC setup, frame-level protocol definition per stream, concurrent streams, generation of single or multiple cell frames at the full line rate, and support for encapsulation modes to ensure optimal functionality. Notably, the AT-9622s excels in peak call rate and setup latency assessment for SVCs using SmartSignaling. This SmartCard enables testing of up to 2,048 PPP sessions, 64 LECs for LANE, and up to 800 calls per port each second in SmartSignaling, resulting in 32,000 calls every second when utilizing a test suite comprising 40 ATM ports.
The AT-9622s supports an impressive maximum of 8.38 million VCCs per port, making 335.54 million VCCs the total within a test suite with 40 ports. It also provides extensive capabilities for analyzing the end-to-end performance of xDSL networks and offers protocol support for ILMI, PPP per RFCs 1661 and 2364, UNI 3.x, Classical IP per RFC 1577, LAN Emulation Client 1.0, and LLC/SNAP per RFC 1483. The AT-9622s incorporates an extensive range of statistics to facilitate monitoring and analysis. It provides detailed insights into physical layer performance, ATM layer characteristics, AAL5 layer statistics, VCC connection details, triggers, and latency. Each counter associated with these statistics can hold 4.29 million counts maximum, and all counters offer the ability to display rates and events.
In terms of frame generation testing, the AT-9622s offers flexible features such as a fully definable AAL5 (ATM Adaptation Layer 5) frame payload for transmission on VCCs, user-definable traffic contract parameters per VCC, and frame latency measurement with 100 ns timestamp resolution support. To complement its functionality, the AT-9622s is supported by the SmartSignaling application, which facilitates UNI 3.0/3.1/4.0 signaling and performance benchmarking. With this support, the SmartCard can handle up to 8,388,606 simultaneously switched virtual connections per port and achieve 800 calls per second per port.
