The Spirent Avalanche 2500 is a Load Testing Appliance designed to efficiently detect potential failure points by subjecting infrastructure to rigorous stress tests. It possesses the ability to generate large volumes of highly realistic simulated user and network traffic, effectively replicating various real-world loading scenarios. This appliance caters specifically to equipment manufacturers, service providers, and enterprise network operators, offering precise emulation of user and network behavior to ensure optimal application performance and stringent security measures. The Avalanche 2500 is a rack-mountable testing appliance capable of generating exceptionally high levels of network and user traffic.
The Avalanche 2500 empowers testers to define load variables such as connections, connections per second, transactions, transactions per second, new user sessions, or new user sessions per second. Moreover, it supports the configuration of extremely authentic user behaviors, enabling tests to accurately mimic a user's network usage patterns. The system seamlessly interacts with dynamic and interactive content, HTML links, and fill-in online forms. Furthermore, the Avalanche 2500 boasts broad protocol support, allowing precise testing of performance-sensitive network activities like e-commerce, mail services, streaming media, video on demand streaming through multicast, file transfer, and next-generation IP.
Equipped with a high-precision delay factor, the Avalanche 2500 replicates latencies commonly experienced by users during their connections. It also provides control over TCP/IP stack characteristics, including maximum segment size, delayed ACKs, IP fragmentation, and TCP timeout behavior. This capability allows for the simulation of diverse network environments and fine-tuning of devices or infrastructures in varying TCP behavior scenarios. Supporting a comprehensive range of intranet, extranet, and remote access VPN configurations for both IPv4 and IPv6 networks, the Avalanche 2500 ensures realistic application simulation, user authenticity, and the ability to emulate SSL VPN-encrypted sessions, including the generation and receipt of validated certificates.
The Avalanche 2500 can generate more than 50,000 HTTP 1.0 requests per second (over 80,000 HTTP 1.0 requests per second using Streamliner). By employing IP and MAC masquerading, the appliance can simulate over 2 million concurrent connections, each appearing to originate from distinct IP addresses and/or different MAC addresses on separate subnets. It has established itself as the industry standard for Layer 4-7 triple-play testing due to its fully-integrated traffic approach and state-of-the-art reporting capabilities. The Avalanche 2500 also includes the WorkSuite Manager (WSM) feature, an automated testing suite with an intuitive graphical user interface. This functionality empowers test engineers to select methodologies that align with their specific needs and objectives, serving as both a test harness and a tool for goal-seeking.
