The ECG-3000F by Spirent is a high-performance Abacus 5000 ECG3 subsystem designed for analog circuit emulation in telecommunication networks. Specifically, it serves as an analog call generator, replicating the behavior of analog subscribers. With the capability to simulate 14 circuits (FXO), the ECG-3000F accurately models both originating (calling party) and terminating (called party) channels, executing call setup and tear down for each channel.

The ECG-3000F is a versatile tool that enables users to simulate various applications associated with switch and network testing, offering flexibility and adaptability. It simplifies the testing of converged IP telephony and PSTN/analog networks, facilitating functional and performance testing for analog services such as T.30 fax and V.34 analog data modems. By providing synchronized measurements for IP, TDM, and analog interfaces through a unified user interface, the ECG-3000F promotes cost savings and streamlines convergence testing.

Noteworthy features of the ECG-3000F include analog CLASS feature testing, compliance with global standards and specifications such as FCC, NET4, CTR21, JATE, and country-specific PTT guidelines. It incorporates a programmable protocol state machine, flexible call sequences, and the ability to detect caller ID, metering pulses, and battery reversal/denial. With an impressive capacity to generate over 20,000 calls per hour, it empowers users to validate Quality of Service (QoS) using the Scripting for Voice Pattern Matching feature. The ECG-3000F is equipped with a 64-bit processor, Digital Signal Processors (DSPs), and flash memory to ensure optimal computing performance and facilitate future upgrades.

The ECG-3000F’s extensive range of features includes programmable class progress tones, verifiable speech paths for establishing and maintaining calls, end-to-end testing, echo measurements, call tracing, country-specific interfaces, analog clear channel support, distinctive ringing status, and call ID during call waiting. Additionally, the ECG-3000F offers various load profiling options such as sawtooth, rectangle, trapezoid, and Poisson. The graphical display of the subsystem presents measurements over time, while results are automatically collected and presented in tables and graphs. Furthermore, this subsystem incorporates voice quality measurements utilizing industry-standard algorithms such as Perceptual Speech Quality Measurement (PSQM), PSQM+, or Perceptual Evaluation of Speech Quality (PESQ).
