To operate the EDM-1002B, a Pentium or higher PC running Windows XP Professional SP2 is required, along with a mouse and color monitor for GUI-based operation. Additionally, an Ethernet cable, a 10/100/1000 Mbps Ethernet card, a compatible chassis and controller, and a compatible SFP transceiver are necessary. The EDM-1002B supports wire-rate and beyond wire-rate traffic generation, featuring a real-time event log that allows users to monitor protocol messaging on a per-port basis. With HyperFilters technology, users can accumulate, track, and receive statistics for a maximum of 5 fields in every receive frame at all speeds wire rate. The module also includes frame editing and custom packet capabilities promoted by a field editor that is graphically-driven.
