The Spirent ICG-3220R is an Abacus 5000 ICG3 subsystem designed to simulate Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) calling functionality. This subsystem operates as a single card that can both originate and terminate calls. Its primary functions include conducting high-stress and performance signaling and RTP media testing. The ICG-3220R is capable of delivering signaling (supporting up to 20,000 channels for SIP) and/or media traffic, generating call signaling, and simulating multiple gateways and/or IP telephones to a system under test.
One of the key features of the ICG-3220R is its ability to execute endpoint registration requests. It can handle up to 65,000 simultaneous registered SIP users per ICG3 subsystem, allowing measurement of the capacity of SIP proxy servers. Additionally, this subsystem can be employed to perform Quality of Service (QoS) testing on Interactive Voice Response (IVR) and Voice Mail servers using Voice Pattern Matching scripting. The ICG-3220R offers functional and performance testing for various protocols including PSTN/IP ladder diagram, softswitch emulation, clear channel, BICC, SIGTRAN M3UA/IUA, H.248/Megaco, MGCP/NCS, H.323, Skinny, SIP-T, and SIP.
The ICG-3220R provides cost-effective solutions and grants users flexibility in convergence testing by enabling synchronized IP, TDM, and analog measurements through a unified user interface. Compatibility with a SIP Proxy/Registrar server is a notable aspect of this subsystem. The subsystem can interface with a SIP Proxy/Registrar server, which processes incoming requests and determines the appropriate routing. This server accepts REGISTER requests and stores the received information in the location service for the relevant domain. The SIP Registrar associates contact addresses with SIP users, enabling knowledge of where a user can be reached. The ICG-3220R's Graphical User Interface (GUI) offers an extensive range of configuration parameters for the SIP Proxy/Registrar, including user list management and authentication credentials.
The SIP server functionality of the ICG-3220R contributes to its value as a large-scale test solution. It emulates the network server side, acting as a stateful proxy processing engine. It creates and maintains a server transaction associated with one or more client transactions. This subsystem can simulate real-world signaling traffic scenarios with up to 512,000 SIP signaling endpoints and support up to 780,000 simultaneous registered SIP users per instance. The ICG-3220R stands out with its range of distinctive features, including voice quality testing, quality of service testing, voice security testing, VoIP signaling and media traffic generation, as well as troubleshooting and diagnostic capabilities.
