Furthermore, the module supports IP index and IP header functionalities for various applications, VLAN tagged frame compatibility, and UDP/TCP port number functions.

To ensure compatibility with different physical interfaces, the LAN-3201B features a singular GBIC interface, which is an industry-standard interface. This interface allows users to change the physical interface effortlessly to support either multimode or single-mode fiber. The GBIC converters can be inserted or removed from the host chassis without interrupting power to the host system, enabling convenient system configuration changes through plug-ins. The LAN-3201B has specific requirements for operation, including one slot in an SMB-600 or SMB-6000B chassis and a compatible Pentium PC or IBM running Windows 95/98/NT with a mouse and color monitor. It can be connected using an RS-232 cable or, for Ethernet control, a RJ-45 cable and a half-duplex, 10 Mbps Ethernet controller card are required.
