The PCG-3004R is a Abacus 5000 PCG3 subsystem designed to emulate telephone or terminal exchanges using PCM circuits. It provides simulation for both E1 and T1 switching and call generation. This subsystem can test PCM circuits with 24 or 30 channels per circuit. It supports originating and terminating configurations for each channel, enabling flexible testing scenarios. The PCG-3004R offers several functionalities, including channel call teardown or setup, execution of media scripts that involve audio file reception and signal processing, and the ability to transfer channel-to-channel calls based on dialed numbers by the system under test.
The PCG-3004R finds applications across a wide range of areas. It is useful for VoIP convergence testing, allowing users to assess convergence, measure one-way delay, verify media functionality, check dial-up connectivity, evaluate voice quality, and generate calls. In PBXs, switches, and central office applications, it aids in traffic creation and capacity determination. The PCG-3004R is also compatible with switching, voicemail, IR, transmission equipment, channel banks, and multiplexers, enabling end-to-end testing, transmission quality verification, interface switching, message replay, traffic generation, and account code transmission.
The PCG-3004R is designed for cost effectiveness, providing complete flexibility to the user for convergence testing with synchronized analog, TDM, and IP measurements. The PCG-3004R simplifies testing in converged IP telephony and PSTN networks, facilitating performance and functional testing for PSTN/IP, V.90 data modem, T.30 fax, and SS7 ladder diagrams. Notable features include idle bit patterns, custom protocols, PRI facility support, flexible call sequences, and the ability to conduct fax measurements on multiple channels. Measurement results can be displayed over time on a graphical user interface (GUI), and the test duration can be randomized or fixed, ranging from 1 second to an indefinite period.
In terms of tone generation, the PCG-3004R allows for the transmission of two frequencies with 1 Hz resolution, noise or silence generation, and precise timing with an 8 ms resolution and ±20 ms accuracy. It can detect two frequencies with a minimum difference of 10 Hz, identify energy or silence, and detect signals with a minimum duration of 40 ms at various thresholds. Measurement capabilities on each channel include delays, hits, clips, and bit error rate assessment. The PCG-3004R features front and rear cards equipped with RJ-45, BNC, and 68-pin compatible connectors for seamless integration into the Abacus 5000 slot.
