The Spirent SMB-2000 is a highly advanced SmartBits 2000 Standard Network Performance Analysis Chassis that offers exceptional capabilities for measuring performance limits across various technological environments, ranging from small-scale development labs to extensive enterprise networks. This chassis is extensively employed for testing complex network configurations and network devices such as Frame Relay, Gigabit Ethernet, ATM, and 10/100 Mbps Ethernet. The SMB-2000 is particularly renowned for its scalability, allowing multiple units to be grouped together, providing support for up to 640 ports. It offers both local and remote Internet accessibility, further enhancing its usability and flexibility.

To facilitate its comprehensive functionality, the SMB-2000 is compatible with a range of SmartCards, with each card possessing a single port. While most SmartCards require a single chassis slot, certain cards, such as the ATM and Gigabit Ethernet SmartCards, require two slots. In addition to the SmartCard, this chassis necessitates the use of an Ethernet cable, a 10/100 Ethernet card installed within a PC, and an IBM-compatible Pentium PC running Windows 98/2000/NT. A color monitor and mouse are also required to operate the system effectively. Primarily designed for network equipment manufacturers engaged in production, engineering, and QA testing, the SMB-2000 serves as a vital tool for analysis. With the SmartLib application, a single workstation can efficiently manage up to eight SmartBits stacks, equivalent to 32 chassis with a total of 640 ports. The SMB-2000 is equipped with RJ-45 expansion-in and expansion-out jacks, along with external 10 MHz clock signal support. Furthermore, it offers the capability to connect up to 512 chassis with the assistance of a multi-chassis extension unit, thereby accommodating large-scale testing scenarios.
