The SMB-6000B by Spirent is a SmartBits 6000B chassis that addresses the growing need for higher port density in a cost-effective manner. One notable feature of the SMB-6000B is its ability to be daisy-chained in an expansion connection, enabling users to achieve even higher port density. The front panel of the SMB-6000B incorporates LEDs on the lower left side, which change colors to indicate the chassis status. These LEDs include fan, link, status, power, and temperature indicators. Additionally, four LEDs on the back panel of the chassis provide information about the Ethernet control port status to the chassis controller.

The SMB-6000B is designed for user convenience and ease of operation. It features a universal input that accepts 120/240 VAC without requiring any manual adjustment. The main disconnect device, known as the Power Supply Inlet, is located at the rear of the chassis and includes the power switch, fuse holder, and a universal 3-wire instrument power cord jack. It is important to note that the replacement fuses for this chassis are metric in size. To control the SMB-6000B, a PC can be connected through a 10/100 Mbps Ethernet connection, utilizing a Windows® based interface.
