The SMB-600B by Spirent is a SmartBits Network Performance Analysis System Chassis that represents an enhanced iteration of the SmartBits 600 chassis (SMB-600). This chassis offers improved features and functionalities. The SMB-600B is fully compatible with all SmartBits 600x/6000x chassis and can accommodate up to two modules, supporting a wide range of port types. This portable and compact chassis exhibits a remarkable high port density relative to its size, positioning it as an optimal network performance testing system.

To further amplify the port density, the SMB-600B can be connected to other 600B chassis through daisy-chaining. This facilitates the execution of automated large-scale testing in production that’s high quality and Quality Control environments. By synchronously connecting up to 512 chassis using multi-chassis SmartBits extension units, users can achieve exceptional scalability. Conveniently controlled through an Ethernet connection with a host computer boasting 10/100 Mbps, the SMB-600B supports Solaris, Linux, or Windows-based operating systems.

Designed to serve various purposes, the SMB-600B finds application in evaluation labs for performance benchmarking, network equipment manufacturers for functionality testing and verification, and enterprises, ISPs, and telcos for determining application suitability before implementation. Despite its lightweight and rack-mountable nature, the SMB-600B can house up to two modules, making it a versatile solution. It allows simultaneous operation by multiple users, facilitates host PC Ethernet connections, and automates industry-standard performance tests. Notably, this chassis offers support for external timing references such as NTP, GPS, and CDMA TIA/EIA–95B, ensuring accurate synchronization.
