Spirent SPT-8010

The Spirent SPS-8010, previously known as the MU-8010, is a highly capable network performance and security appliance developed by Spirent. It serves as a robust defense mechanism against security attacks and offers proactive identification of vulnerabilities prior to deployment, minimizing costly downtime and preventing disruptive emergencies. With its intuitive interface, the SPS-8010 enables users to swiftly create customized tests for unique protocols and applications, eliminating the need for complex scripting. Furthermore, it provides developers with efficient remediation tools, facilitating faster defect reproduction.

The versatile SPS-8010 finds application in various scenarios, including the evaluation of network devices' ability to detect and thwart a multitude of known attacks. It assesses the resilience of these devices by subjecting them to millions of unexpected and malicious inputs, as well as gauges their capacity to withstand targeted DDoS attacks. The appliance can also verify the reliability of network devices by generating negative tests for virtually any protocol interaction, accommodating custom protocols and proprietary extensions. Additionally, the SPS-8010 enables the testing of a device's capabilities to identify and respond to malware, unwanted URLs, and spam traffic.

To fortify a device against network attacks, the SPS-8010 utilizes the Studio Security software suite. This suite incorporates TestCloud, a comprehensive cloud-based repository housing thousands of application tests and security attacks, with regular additions of hundreds of new tests each month. Additionally, the Test Management Server, available as a deployable virtual machine (VM), allows efficient management of security testing activities. The SPS-8010 Studio Security supports both the SPS-8010 (MU-8010) and the SPS-8000 (MU-8000), which are rack-mountable appliances capable of generating network traffic representative of real-world conditions.

The SPS-8010 incorporates DDOS replication, which enables users to swiftly replicate a wide range of actual and potential DDoS attacks. This capability serves to test the resilience of applications and services against such attacks. Moreover, the appliance offers a Published Vulnerabilities (PV) Module that provides an up-to-date and continually expanding list of software vulnerability triggers, mirroring the latest real-world attacks observed on the internet. By employing spreadsheet-based data-driven testing, security features like malware detection and prevention, URL filtering, and application whitelisting/blacklisting can be conveniently tested. Additionally, the SPS-8010 boasts an array of monitors that facilitate fault isolation and reproduction by interacting with the target.
