Spirent SR3452

The Spirent SR3452 is a versatile CDMA network emulator designed to facilitate comprehensive testing across various band classes defined by IMT-2000. The SR3452 features flexible RF converters capable of providing frequency coverage from 400 to 2700 MHz. By integrating powerful instruments and software, it can be effectively utilized with AirAccess systems to form an integrated test system. The composition of instruments and software within the system depends on the specific AirAccess configuration.

The SR3452 offers core evaluation capabilities for CDMA networks in either a single instrument configuration or a dual instrument configuration. In the single instrument configuration, the SR3452 emulates one Base Station Controller (BSC) on a single RF carrier. The dual instrument configuration provides a second RF carrier for emulating a second BSC. In both configurations, up to six independent sectors can be emulated, each capable of providing a complete set of code channels. When combined with the SR3462 emulator, a single RF can operate in 1X or EV-DO mode, or two simultaneous RF channels can deliver both 1X and EV-DO network emulation in a single configuration.

The SR3452 can be integrated into a dual-channel or three-channel system, where primary and secondary channels are duplexed into a single RF I/O 2 port on the primary emulator, and tertiary channels are outputted through the RF I/O 2 port of the tertiary emulator. Both RF I/O outputs are externally combined. In either case, the Unit under Test is connected to the RF I/O 2 port on the front panel of the network emulator(s), either directly to the primary SR3452 or to an external combiner in the case of a three-channel setup. The emulator offers a range of clock and trigger inputs and outputs via rear panel connectors. These inputs and outputs enable synchronization with other test equipment, the provision of common reference signals between multiple pieces of equipment, and the triggering of measurements with external test equipment.

The front panel of the SR3452 features LED indicators that display the instrument's status. To power on the AirAccess C2K system with multiple emulators, both instruments should be connected first. Once connected, power on the router, the system controller PC and monitor, and the primary SR3452. The emulator LED will turn solid green after approximately 30 seconds, indicating that it is powered on. A secondary and tertiary emulator can also be powered on and used in this system. When utilizing the emulator, a 23 dB RF power range window defines the minimum and maximum RF levels achievable from the combined forward links of all the Base Transceiver Stations (BTSs) associated with the configured BSC.
