Spirent T5000

The Spirent T5000 is a robust Tech-X Flex field test solution specifically tailored for telecommunications cable providers. Its primary purpose is to facilitate service qualification and troubleshoot transport-related issues in both home and outside plant environments. The device boasts a high-resolution touch screen display, offering maximum information and detail. Furthermore, the T5000’s powerful processing capability sets it apart, providing an advanced test set comparable to a PC rather than a standard test set with limited functionality.

One of the key areas where the T5000 excels is in in-home triple play testing. It encompasses a comprehensive range of test features to swiftly diagnose and resolve any problems encountered within a household. These features include IP video testing, 802.11 testing and access, web browsing capabilities, MoCA testing, and high-speed internet testing. Telco triple play testing is made possible, allowing field technicians to qualify both FTTN Service Provider and MSO networks. By utilizing the T5000 modular capabilities, technicians can ensure complete service qualification using a single platform for FTTN-based networks comprising POTS, DSL, and Triple Play offerings.

When it comes to MSO triple play testing, the T5000 proves to be an invaluable tool for field engineers and technicians involved in the installation and maintenance of MSO service offerings. It can be configured to emulate a Set-Top Box (STB), select video streams, and measure subsequent video and network quality over time. Equipped with dual Ethernet ports, it enables in-line/passive monitoring of both IP and Ethernet services. By selecting video streams on the STB, faults can be observed on both the device and the user's television, allowing for effective comparison. With its integrated 802.11 modem, the T5000 can validate a user's network configuration and troubleshoot connection-related issues.

The T5000 has been thoughtfully designed to integrate seamlessly with various systems, including local PCs and back offices. Multiple communication interfaces such as wireless, Ethernet, and USB are provided, eliminating the need for the technician's laptop during configuration of both customer premises equipment (CPE) and access equipment. This is facilitated through the T5000's web browser, touch screen functionality, and the option to use the virtual on-screen keyboard, keypad, or external USB keyboard. Additionally, the device offers ample storage capacity due to its large internal memory and external capability via a USB slot. When results are saved, they are automatically pushed from the device and can be transmitted via Ethernet or 802.11.
