The Spirent T5610 is a specialized MoCA test module designed for the Tech-X Flex Tester, catering to the needs of field technicians by providing an efficient and cost-effective solution for troubleshooting MoCA-related issues. This module offers various functionalities to isolate and address MoCA 1.0/1.1 transport issues separate from physical layer coaxial problems. The T5610’s primary purpose is to verify the performance of IP services such as IP Video and high-speed Internet over the MoCA interface, both in-service and out-of-service.

Featuring in-home distribution technology that operates over coaxial cables, the T5610 enables a cost-effective means of distributing IP Video services throughout residential environments. It facilitates the verification of data rates between different devices like Set Top Boxes (STBs), residential gateways (RGs), and media servers, ensuring their suitability for high-speed video sharing. Additionally, this test module can identify noise and other impairments that may reduce data rates by analyzing bit loading within carrier frequencies. The T5610 offers the capability to emulate an Ethernet Coaxial Bridge (ECB), enabling in-line IP connectivity testing. It includes a convenient one-click MoCA Quick Test feature, which allows field technicians to rapidly assess the performance of MoCA-based networks. The module can analyze connectivity and data rates among a maximum of 16 network-connected MoCA devices.

The T5610 can detect interference occurring at specific frequency bands when looking at the frequency of bits per carrier, potentially leading to low data rates. In addition, this test module provides IP connectivity testing over the MoCA interface, incorporating functionalities such as Web Browser, Throughput, Packet Loss, TraceRoute, and Ping tests. Conducting tests across all layers ensures the detection of protocol issues that may not be apparent through MoCA-level tests alone. When combined with the Tech-Flex unit, the T5610 serves as a bridge between MoCA and Cat-5 Ethernet, acting as an Ethernet/coax Bridge (ECB). For instance, it enables computers to join MoCA-based WAN or LAN networks through their 10/100 interfaces. The module can be utilized both before and after joining a MoCA network, offering synchronization and evaluating various network statistics. These statistics are logged and presented in tabs, allowing field technicians to quickly assess the state of the MoCA-based network through measured and analyzed data.
