The Spirent T5615 is a Tech-X Flex RF MoCA Module designed to assist field technicians in effectively and economically troubleshooting MoCA-related problems within residential settings. Utilizing in-home distribution technology that operates through coaxial cables, the T5615 capitalizes on the widespread use of residential cable and satellite services, offering a cost-efficient means of delivering IP Video services to multiple televisions within a household without necessitating the installation of new cables during setup. Additionally, this module emulates an Ethernet Coaxial Bridge, facilitating in-line IP Connectivity Testing. Furthermore, a convenient one-click MoCA Quick Test promptly qualifies a MoCA-based network.
The T5615 module performs various functions to ensure optimal performance and suitability for high-speed video sharing across devices like Set Top Boxes, residential gateways, and media servers. It enables technicians to verify data rates between these devices, ascertaining their compatibility for seamless video sharing. Additionally, the T5615 possesses the capability to identify and analyze noise and other factors that may impair data rates by examining bit loading within carrier frequencies. By utilizing the MoCA interface, the module can also verify IP services like IP Video and high-speed Internet. It supports connectivity and data rate analysis for up to 16 network-connected MoCA devices, offering both in-service and out-of-service testing options.
The T5615 is particularly valuable in pinpointing the root cause of poor service performance by examining device connectivity and analyzing data rates between them. This approach effectively isolates physical layer issues related to coaxial cabling from MoCA-specific problems within the devices themselves. By employing a two-stage approach that checks connectivity and measures bandwidth between the Tech-X Flex module and the STB, followed by measurements between the Tech-X Flex and the residential-gateway/router, field technicians can swiftly identify any issues with the coaxial cable connecting these devices. With the T5615, technicians can also examine the bits per carrier frequency, facilitating the detection of interference occurring at specific frequency bands that may result in low data rates.
The T5615 excels in troubleshooting applications such as video on demand or DVR video sharing, presenting comprehensive information in a user-friendly table format that readily highlights existing problems. IP Connectivity can also be thoroughly tested via the MoCA interface, leveraging Web Browser, Throughput, Packet Loss, TraceRoute, or Ping functionality. By conducting tests across all layers, the T5615 ensures the absence of any protocol issues that may not be immediately apparent when solely relying on MoCA-level tests. When paired with the Tech-Flex unit, this module serves as a bridge between MoCA and Cat-5 Ethernet, commonly referred to as an Ethernet/coax Bridge. Additionally, the MoCA Quick Test feature allows field technicians to execute a series of automated MoCA-related tests.
