The TAS3710 by Spirent is a Position Determination Entity (PDE) that serves as a compact server platform, enabling the execution of realistic system tests. This device employs algorithms that are identical to those found in its deployed network counterpart. Moreover, it offers user-selectable key parameters through the TASKIT/PLTS software. The TAS3710 is equipped with PDE software, which is supported by PLTS and keeps track of the software release of the deployed network entity it emulates. The PDE's algorithms simulate the location server component of a network. The integrated TASKIT/PLTS test executive software provides a centralized control point for configuring and executing test scenarios, complete with pass/fail criteria and results analysis.
One of the core functionalities of the TAS3710 is network-based position determination. It leverages algorithms that mirror those utilized in actual network entities. To streamline testing, the SimLOCATE's Virtual Receiver function mimics the PDE reference receiver and directly outputs reference data to the PDE, effectively reducing test time. Additionally, the SimLOCATE software features a comprehensive graphical user interface (GUI) that showcases PDE reference receiver positions. In contrast to control plane implementations, which rely on standard CDMA signaling for the transfer of location-sensitive information between the mobile device and the network, user plane implementations employ a TCP/IP connection between the Mobile Station (MS) and the TAS3710.
