The TAS5048 by Spirent serves as a Test Configuration Unit (TCU) in conjunction with the SR5068 system. Together, they form a highly integrated and robust solution for evaluating the performance of mobile receivers. Primarily designed as an integral part of the C2K-ATS system, the TAS5048 is seamlessly controlled by the TASKIT/C2K software, enabling automatic selection of pre-designed test configurations from a predefined list. By eliminating the need for manual system configuration, this TCU optimizes test execution speed.

The TAS5048 facilitates three distinct configurations of the C2K-ATS, specifically in conjunction with the SR5068 TCU, to establish the Mobile Station-Base Station Link. This configuration, supported by the Base Station Emulator's communication and signaling protocols, enables comprehensive evaluation of Frame Error Rate (FER) performance and call configurations. The integration of the TAS5048 and the SR5068 unit empowers automated switching of RF signal paths across a range of test cases, all controllable through the TASKIT/C2K software. These RF connections are critical for achieving maximum test coverage flexibility in the assessment of 3G mobile devices.

For automated control of the TASKIT/C2K software, the TAS5048 can be combined with the Agilent 3499B Logic/Control System. This integration facilitates seamless control and reconfiguration of the CDMA signaling path within the C2K-ATS, as expertly managed by the TASKIT/C2K software. To ensure smooth operation of the device, running system diagnostics is imperative. The first step in this process involves verifying the RF generator in the Agilent 8960 and confirming the functionality of the Spectrum Analyzer. Concurrently, the TAS5048 is subjected to verification to ensure proper operation. Furthermore, manual reset of the diagnostic path can be achieved using the configuration menus of the TCU.
