The Spirent TAS5600 is a wireless universal interference emulator specifically designed to address the inherent challenges associated with test rack construction for receiver characterization. By consolidating all the necessary hardware for receiver testing, it tackles issues such as repeatability across multiple test setups over time, test set VSWR interaction, ACLR, phase noise, output power accuracy, and signal-to-noise ratio accuracy. With its versatile capabilities, the TAS5600 enables diverse testing scenarios by incorporating noise signal generators, waveform generators, signal generators, a power meter, and RF attenuators.
The TAS5600 is housed in a single rack-mountable chassis, streamlining the testing process, eliminating unreliable test setups, ensuring consistent results, and bolstering confidence in the test outcomes. The emulator boasts precise and repeatable C/N and C/I emulators, as well as a signal generation engine that supports sequences of long data. Additionally, it includes a GSM modulated interferer, making it ideal for dual-mode test applications. The presence of two independent RF channels enables testing for receiver diversity and signal path maintenance in the calibration cycle, making the TAS5600 a versatile choice for various applications.
The TAS5600 ensures the accuracy of the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) is critical when constructing a test setup for receiver testing. Modern receivers utilize spread spectrum and advanced coding schemes, and small errors in SNR can result in significant differences in error rate. To ensure reliable results, the TAS5600 combines an instrument-grade power meter with factory-calibrated signal paths. This combination enables accurate ratio generation, precise level setting, excellent repeatability, and increased confidence in test results. Moreover, the emulator is specifically designed to deliver ultra-low phase noise and excellent ACLR performance.
By surpassing the phase noise and ACLR requirements of popular receiver test standards, the TAS5600 provides assurance that the receiver's adjacent channel performance is being tested under ultra-clean and accurate channel conditions, instilling confidence in the test results. The emulator also excels in simulating both narrow and wideband interference encountered in the radio environment, accurately representing cochannel and adjacent channel testing scenarios. The TAS5600’s ability to generate different interferer types simultaneously reflects real-world scenarios. Furthermore, the data used to generate user channels modulated onto the interfering carrier has a long repetition interval, enhancing the realism of the testing environment.
