The Spirent TCG-3000R is an advanced Abacus 5000 TCG3 subsystem designed to facilitate the testing and emulation of PCM circuits used in telephone exchanges (central offices) and terminal systems. This subsystem effectively replicates the functionalities of T3, E3, and G.747 protocols, enabling call generation and switching operations. In call generation mode, the TCG-3000R establishes and terminates calls on individual channels, executing a predefined media script that involves the transmission and reception of audio signals and files.
During switching operations, the TCG-3000R intelligently sends calls between channels inside the Abacus 5000 system based on the System Under Test (SUT) provided number that has been dialed. This subsystem offers comprehensive testing capabilities for converged IP telephony and Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) services and networks. The TCG-3000R encompasses functional and performance testing features for various protocols, including PSTN/IP, SCCP/TCAP/IN, clear channel, V.90 data modem, T.30 fax, and SS7 ladder diagrams.
The TCG-3000R can support convergence testing with synchronized Time-Division Multiplexing (TDM), analog, and IP measurements using a single interface, resulting in cost savings for users. With this subsystem, users can verify the establishment and continuity of speech paths throughout call durations, conduct voice quality measurements utilizing Perceptual Evaluation of Speech Quality (PESQ) on up to 392 channels, and customize test durations to last a minimum of one second on either a random or fixed interval basis. The TCG-3000R is equipped with a range of valuable features, including built-in protocol analyzers, support for custom protocols, flexible call sequences, an SS7 event analyzer, echo measurements, and an idle bit pattern.
The TCG-3000R's performance in terms of call volume varies depending on the operation mode, with call generation supporting up to 900,000 calls per hour, while call switching can handle up to 450,000 calls per hour. The subsystem automatically collects and presents test results in graphical and tabular formats, providing continuous monitoring of key metrics. Through graphical representation, the TCG-3000R enables the visualization of measurements over time and load profiling values such as saw tooth, rectangle, trapezoid, and Poisson. Additionally, the subsystem complies with G.747 specifications, which involve transmitting 21 E1 links over a T3 stream, and it offers the capability to detect and forward DTMF, MF R1/R1.5/R2, and pulse dialing signals.
