The UPY-2001A by Spirent is a high-performance 2-port POS and ATM WAN 10G host module designed specifically for testing core and edge routers that offer exceptional performance and a wide range of services. This module incorporates advanced features such as bi-directional control protocol decoding and high-performance per port CPU, enabling comprehensive testing of IPv4 and IPv6 routing as well as MPLS protocols. The UPY-2001A provides real-time measurement and reporting capabilities for thousands of streams, including packet loss, re-sequencing, Metro Ethernet Forum-specified jitter, bit errors, and latency.

With a high port density and support for 32k transmit and 64k receive test streams per port, the UPY-2001A offers outstanding testing capabilities. One of the key strengths of this module is its ability to generate sophisticated and realistic traffic patterns, allowing for quick setup and traffic generation for billions of flows. It offers variable header fields, packet contents, packet lengths, and stream rates, enabling flexible testing scenarios. The module is also compatible with Analyzer HyperFilters, which allow users to separate and view specific packet header fields in real time, such as MAC DA/SA, IP SA/DA, MPLS labels, VLAN tags, TOS/DSCP, TCP/UDP ports, and ATM VPI/VCI, among others. The UPY-2001A occupies less rack space compared to alternative solutions, thanks to its high numbers of virtual interfaces and routing sessions per port, making it ideal for capability testing.

The UPY-2001A also supports "white box" testing, allowing seamless integration with Device Under Test (DUT) systems, ensuring accurate and reliable information for post-test analysis. This module caters to various applications, including core router capacity testing, characterizing line rate forwarding behavior of devices up to 10Gbps, and simulating complex IPv4 and IPv6 networks with thousands of routers through the injection of routing protocol messages. It is capable of characterizing DUT forwarding capability by measuring packet rates, loss, re-sequencing, latency, and latency jitter across numerous traffic streams. Additionally, the UPY-2001A facilitates testing of 10GbE LAN, WAN, OC-192, OC-48, OC-12, and OC-3 router interfaces. The module's pluggable Personality Board and transceiver design further enhance its cost-effectiveness by reducing expenses associated with obtaining new interfaces.
