The Spirent WN-3441A is a WAN SmartMetrics SmartCard designed to serve as a network performance analysis tool. It is specifically engineered to conduct frame level testing at maximum wire rate for a wide range of network devices, including WAN and broadband access devices, LAN routers, and switches. With its comprehensive capabilities, the WN-3441A can be effectively utilized in conjunction with other cards to perform high-performance internetworking tests involving Frame Relay/PPP devices, LAN, ATM, and other Frame Relay/PPP devices, encompassing Layer 2 and Layer 3 examinations.

The WN-3441A boasts support for T1/E1/DS3 interfaces and the IGMP V2 protocol, while also providing clear channel DS3 support. Equipped with the SmartWindow and SmartFlow applications, it empowers users to effortlessly execute throughput, packet loss, latency, back-to-back, and sequence taking tests on a single device under test (DUT) or an extensive internetwork setup. All the tests are fully supported by the WN-3441A and can be accessed through the SmartLib API, enabling seamless integration with existing C, C++, or Tcl application sets. For convenient test setup, the module offers ScriptCenter™, which provides both GUI and scripting options. Furthermore, the SmartCard incorporates channelization for NxDSOs up to full T1/E1/ES3 rates.

Delivering complete line-rate traffic generation and analysis capabilities, the WN-3441A offers a variety of SmartMetrics tests, including sequence tracking, raw tags, latency per stream, latency over time, sequence plus latency, and raw tags. It supports Frame Relay and PPP protocols, RFC 1490 for IP encapsulation over Frame Relay, RFC 1662 for IP encapsulation over PPP, with a maximum of 64K flows per stream and one LMI or PPP session per channel. The WN-3441A can handle up to 2,048 IP streams, UDP, or custom streams per card, as well as a maximum of 1,023 Frame Relay PVCs per card. It also supports PAP and CHAP authentication, Microsoft CHAP, and Frame Relay LMI, Annex A, or Annex D link management protocols.

The WN-3441A enables Layer 2 latency measurements through its trigger mechanism, allowing this test to be conducted across various SmartCards. For Layer 3 latency tests, this SmartCard effectively collaborates with other SmartCards using a transmit time signature field. The Layer 3 test options include Sequence Tracking plus Latency, Latency Distribution, Raw Packet Tags, and Latency Over Time. To operate the WN-3441A, two slots in an SMB-200/2000 chassis are required, along with a compatible IBM or PC running Windows 98/2000/NT. Additionally, a color monitor and a mouse are necessary for PC connectivity.
